    Great video Kathy and insights. Trying to decide between the derby and the international atm. The extra wheels seem cumbersome but they appear to win the roller experience. The international is a bit more "stiff" whereas the derby seems more flexible, which I prefer. Also interested in the (green-ish looking) pouches that you use ... where are they sourced? I'm in Australia.

      @KathyAdamsClark 21 день назад

      @kathysportfilmphoto thanks for the comment. The green pouches are from LensCoat (lenscoat.com/) They are called Lens Pouches. Love the. The International is big. I've touched it a few times during my trips. It's bigger than the Roller Derby so be aware that it can be heavier. I love the Airport Advantage because it's lighter. The Roller Derby is my second choice. Let me know what you finally decide!

      @@KathyAdamsClark thanks for the reply. Went with the International. Good for storage. Not sure how much it will get used on the road because I have the Advantage too and smaller bags are great as I get older. The Canon RF lenses are chunky and mobility takes bit of thinking & planning. Will see how it goes. The lens pouches look fab, thanks for the info. Not sure if I need them but they look great and protection is super important.

    To apply the same changes to a selected group of photos in Lightroom Classic, in the Library module, select the images you want to edit. Switch to the Develop module. At the bottom of the right panel, click the tiny switch to turn on AUTO SYNCH. If you don't turn on auto synch, then only the picture you see in the preview in Develop will be changed. The remaining selected photos will not be changed. When you are finished with editing all the photos, be sure to TURN OFF AUTO SYNCH or Lightroom Classic will continue to apply all the same settings to the next group of pictures you select.

    Hi, Ms. Clark! I just discovered and subscribed to your channel; lovely info. - - thank you! 2 Questions as to the R6M2... I prefer to shoot primarily birds, some other wildlife... have a Canon 7DM2, and more recently shoot with Canon's 90D... most frequently with Canon's 100-400mm IS ultrasonic lens along with the extender 1.4 III - - great images, and if cropping is required, still gr8 - - However, the R6M2 is quite appealing for wildlife. Would you recommend the R6M2 using Canon's adapter (for use with my EF lenses? ... already in-hand, quite a few, like the 100-400mm 4.5-5.6 L IS II, and the similar 70-200mm L lens, and others ) If to spend more $$ - - ?much better may be the R6M2 with the RF 100-500mm 4.5-7.1 L IS for most "go to" bird uses?? (and having the adapter on hand for use with EF lenses, worthwhile?) Much appreciated! Be well, be happy!!

    • @KathyAdamsClark
      @KathyAdamsClark 2 месяца назад

      Thanks for the kind comments @BanyanRanchStudios. Appreciate it! A friend recently switched to the R6ii and he said the auto focus "is like a heat seeking missile." I have to agree. I'm always going to recommend that you put the new RF lenses on the R cameras. That's new technology on new technology. The combination of new technology is always going to work better. So, yes, if you can afford it, put the RF 100-500mm, RF 1.4x, and R6ii together. That combination is amazing for bird and wildlife photography. An adapter will work. It does pretty well. Go with that if that is your option based on finances. My recommendation is to sell the old equipment to finance the new. Photographers will gladly buy your older equipment. It's good! I hope that helps!

      Thanks for the commment @DavidSwarthout I used to start with Clarity, Vibrance, and Saturation but the Texture slider was so much better. Hello Kathy, please forgive me for being off subject from your video, but I was hoping to catch your attention. At 68 years old, I’m a brand new photographer and I just bought a Canon R6 Mark 2 and am currently waiting for my back-ordered 200-800 Cannon lens to come in. I know just enough about shutter speed, aperture, and ISO to get myself in trouble. I was wondering if you use back button focus and if I should even worry about it in my learning the camera for bird photography. I have decided to only use full manual mode from the start to hopefully grasp the fundamentals and build on a good foundation and go from there. I’ve also heard that manual with auto ISO is a good choice. I appreciate your videos and your instructional style, which make it easy to follow along. I have tons to learn but have decided to jump in with both feet and your channel has encouraged me to give even the small things my full attention. Any basic recommendations at this point in my journey would be appreciated. All the very best. Joe

    • @KathyAdamsClark
      @KathyAdamsClark 4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the kind comment, @JdilpkleRS Yes, I totally believe in using Manual mode until you feel very comfortable choosing f/stop, shutter speed, ISO for bird photography. (I teach a Basic Photography class online that concentrates on this.) Regarding back button focus, it all depends on your hands. My hand didn't work well with back button focus on the DSLR cameras. My thumb was busy moving the focus point around on the DSLR cameras so it was occupied. On the R6ii, my hand hits that button very well. My thumb doesn't have to do many other tasks so back button focus works well for me. Back button focus all depends on your hands and the egonomics of the camera. Good question!

Could you pls explain why you prefer this color space? Thanks a lot!

    • @KathyAdamsClark
      @KathyAdamsClark 4 месяца назад

      Good question, @duboweek. I used to use Adobe RGB as my color space. A year or so ago, I switched to Display P3. The greens and reds are supposed to be more vibrant. Most of my work is seen on a screen by my editors, students, and creatives. I project most of my work during programs on large screen TVs versus the older digital projectors. I rarely print an image so don't need that color space. Publishers convert the color spaces on my images to meet the needs of their projects so my processing color space isn't a big concern to them. So for me, the Display P3 color space works. Change that to the color space that meets your needs.

    Thanks for the breakdown. How big of a difference is there between the two with the viewfinder shooting experience. And is the r6 ii viewfinder easy to follow moving subjects when using mechanical shutter. Thanks!

      Thanks for the comment, @anand-iyer. I only use the viewfinder. Rarely in macro or something like that will I use the back of the camera. So, yes the R6ii viewfinder is super easy to follow moving subjects. I have the viewfinder set to anti-flicker and Display Simulation set to Exposure. Works great.

    Almost every video like this I watch, no one mentions which position the dial on top is in, as it affects what shows on these menus. Are you in Manual position, P position? I couldn't follow along until I realized the dial on top affects what menus show.

      That's a good point, @TheChadWork2001. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I never shoot in P and never teach shooting in P. I only use TV, AV, and M. Here's what I say in class: "The engineers at the camera companies assume you don't know how to use f/stop, shutter speed, ISO so they give you the P button. In P, a lot of menus and functions are grayed out or not visible at all. Features you paid for are gone because you're in the P mode. Learn how to shoot in TV, AV, and M so that you have total control of your camera and have all the features you paid for." Hope that helps and thanks for the completely valid question.

    Thank you, very well done. Some or many people don't use P.S. so Raw has to be purchased separately. I for one use Bridge and then Gimp, I spent years using PS before retiring & now I only adjust in PS Express & Gimp. You are a very good teacher, wish you were around 26 years ago when I started digital. OBTW, I never used raw, high end jpeg never was turned away by any of my clients.

    I have the latest version of bridge. It looks different from yours in that there is no 'adobe bridge 2024' in the top with 'file,' Edit,' etc. It never stops generating thumbnails even though I let it finish. Next time I open the same file it starts generating thumbnails again. It' slow and unreliable and takes me a week to do what I used to do in a day. I have been on every forum and tutorial and cant find a way to set up the cache file that stops this problem. Can you at at least direct me to some info that my help me solve this? Great tutorial by the way. Thanks. Tony

      Thanks for the post, @TonyinTownNZ. I feel your pain on the slow situation. I've only seen that when the computer has limited space. Either on the hard drive or on the external drive. I saw this last week while on tour in Costa Rica. One person could never get their photos to load. Turns out it was a space issue. Space meaning "scratch disk", hard drive, or external drive space. We Purged the Cache in Bridge, Adobe Camera Raw, and PS. Then we moved the photos to a new external hard drive. Problem solved for that person. Interesting that you don't see the "Adobe Bridge 2024" at the top next to File and Edit. Are you Mac or PC? On the latest Mac machines, the top tool bar will disappear until you put the cursor up there. Maddening to me so I don't have that feature activated. Let me know if any of this works for you. As an FYI, all my photos and documents are on external hard drives. My machines only have programs on them.

      I am on a windows pc. I also have my photos on external hard drives, all 22,0000 of them. My previous version of bridge was fast and easy, no issues, and I am only doing what I have always done. I estimate it's taking me at least three hours to complete what I did in less than one hour with the old version. My cache is set up the same way and I do nothing different. Even trying to change keywords is literally taking hours. It used to take minutes. I see nothing good in this latest version of bridge. They should have left it well alone. Thanks for your kind response though. I guess I am stuck with it. Regards, Tony @@KathyAdamsClark

      @@TonyInTownNZ that sounds horrible. Not like anything I've seen on my computer and those of students and friends. I'd suggest a delete and reinstall of the program. Something is not right. Give that a try.

    I'm soo happy I found you! I've been struggling with the Adobe products. I'm a beginner and shoot both raw and jpeg. If I open a jpeg file in lightroom, can I automatically bring it into PS or vice/versa? and what is the odd file that the photo is saved to after using camera raw?

    • @KathyAdamsClark
      @KathyAdamsClark 4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the comment, @SuzenBonnett. First, the odd file is called an XMP file. Keep it. That file contains all your editing information. Delete it and all you editing, metadata, and keywords disappear. To your jpg question, if you click on a JPG in Bridge it will automatically open in Photoshop. Most of the time you want to open that JPG in Adobe Camera Raw so you can use the sliders to process it. Use right click on a JPG file and select "Open in Camera Raw" from you options. That will open your JPG file in Adobe Camera Raw for processing. BTW, one day you will stop shooting Raw+Jpeg and just shoot in Raw. It's makes like a lot easier.
